It’s been some time since my last blog post due to hosting issues and this site has been suspended, on hold for some time, which I feel has broken much of the traffic momentum this site once had. To get started again blogging, I am posting the video above from National Geographic which is a good overview of Global Warming, on what causes it. An introduction to the Greenhouse Effect, and all about Greenhouse Gases and how this can be reduced. I noticed the language was carefully written using the words: Continue reading Back to the Basics – National Geographic’s Global Warming 101

FACT: There aren’t enough resources on this planet to sustain continued human growth and increasing quality of life.
FACT: If we want to avoid catastrophic war, suffering, and global shortages of energy, we need to start looking to space seriously for solutions. Continue reading Space Based Solar Power – Alternative Energy Solution
This blog post was sent to me by the author, Roy King who politely asked if this can be posted on this website and I have decided, why not. So here goes his narrative piece…
Wednesday afternoon I was low on fuel. On the way to drop off a friend (whose car was in the shop) at Elon University library I made a $5 gas stop at $3.99 to get me to a ‘cheaper’ station. I noticed the local Elon station was at $3.96 and made a mental note to fill up there, saving all of 36 cents on a $45 fill-up, when returned to pick up Eric.
A couple of hours later I pulled up to the pump at Kangaroo Pantry #112. My tank fills from the driver’s side just behind the door. I jumped out, leaving my door open, popped a card into the slot, pushed NO for ‘Debit?’ and YES for ‘Receipt?’. The pump is an old type with separate hoses for each grade, with the ‘regular’ on the far right. As I have done a thousand times before, habitually following the instructions on the pump readout exactly, I removed the nozzle (with my right hand) and (with my left) flipped up the ‘ON’ lever beneath the nozzle hanger on the pump, as I turned to take a short step and remove my gas cap. Suddenly the nozzle jerked in my hand and gas spewed forth, full force, all over my open door panel, over and onto my dash, steering wheel, seat, console, radio/cd player and floor carpets before I could divert the hose and unlock the nozzle. Over a quarter gallon right into my car! Continue reading My Personal Gasoline Nightmare & July 4th Reflections on America, et. al.
Greenpeace will hold it’s Global Day of Action (GDA) on December 8, 2007. This will be a global public initiative to address what many are considering the gravest threat we are facing today, climate change. This year, people and organizations around the world will highlight the Conference of Parties/Meeting of Parties (COP/MOP) on the Kyoto Protocol that will happen in Bali, Indonesia this December 2007.
In the Philippines, Greenpeace has been pushing the passage of the Renewable Energy Bill as the first decisive step of the Philippine government in honoring the Kyoto Protocol and ensuring the use of safe and cleaner energy sources. With all this global warming awareness promotion, about the earth heating up and the polar regions melting and the sea level going up being a main concern by many people, I just intriguingly found this video of melting ice bergs as somewhat like a tourist attraction.

Advertising can be a powerful tool, companies use it as a marketing medium. Politicians use it for blatant to mild campaigns. I have heard this many times from sales people: People are emotional buyers. They could be quoting some famous marketing guru I may not be aware of, but yes, I believe that is how many people are. And when an ad hits the emotions of people, it becomes more powerful.
The head of NASA Michael Griffin mentioned in a taped interview aired on public radio his thoughts on Global Warming.
I have no doubt that global – that a trend of global warming exists… I am not sure that it is fair to say that is a problem we must wrestle with…
I guess I would ask which human beings, where and when, are to be accorded the privilege of deciding that this particular climate that we have right here today, right now, is the best climate for all other human beings. I think that’s a rather arrogant position for people to take.
Even having these statements, NASA released a research paper contrary to his beliefs written by nearly 50 scientist from Columbia University and NASA and published in the Atmospheric Chemistry and Physics where this paper shows human-made greenhouse gases have brought the Earth’s climate close to critical tipping points, with potentially dangerous consequences for the planet.

Some people say I pay too much attention to details of things around me. True or not, here are some small things I remember, they may not be 100% precise to the exact word, but I still remember the gist of these short stories.
On a normal day in College, right beside the school where I went to was a branch of McDonald’s. And during that time I was in there, McDonald’s was doing this earth friendly campaign and had fliers made out of brown recycled paper that had several tips on how to save the earth. In the rest room, after washing my hands I noticed the electrical hand dryer, there was a laminated paper sign stuck right beside it. Talking about how many trees you have saved over the year just by drying your hands with the electrical hand drier. It has some specific statistical numbers on it. And interesting I though, but I never gave much thought into it, since I did not care that much then and all my concern was pass my grades and do my sports and hobbies.
Then out of college, after working for 5 years already, I remember it was 1999 when I had a 10-day to the United States. A real quick vacation. Since it was a quick one, it was mostly going to theme/amusement parks and all these other nice places to go to. And I still remember it was in a rest room nearest to a parking lot at Universal Studios. When I was done with whatever I had to do, and was washing my hands, there were some paper towels. And near it was a sign talking about how much energy is save by using paper towels and not an electrical hand dryer. Which totally reminded me to what I have read in another rest room, 5 years ago, halfway across the globe.

Discovery is now coming up with Global Warming: What you need to know with Tom Brokaw. Premiers July 16 at 9pm. Discovery Channel is known to be an authority in science. And it’s shows are well researched on with top scientist who are experts in their field of study. So their trailer seems to talk about the usual polar region, arctic circle ice melting thus increasing sea level. It would be interesting to see what direction they will be tackling. If they will talk about CO2 levels and the greenhouse effect similar to IPCC presentations, or will they also tackle sun cycles and sunspot count observations.
There are videos on scientific claims of global warming, stating that it is not due to anthropogenic (man-made) CO2 and is due to sun cycles. Two documentary videos that support the claim that it is not human made CO2 contributing to the greenhouse effect and causing global warming are:
